Superintelligence Lab – Summer Research Intern
Role: Human-AI Interaction (HAI) Research Intern (PhD)
Research Intern responsible for conducting human involved AI research mainly focusing on designing/building ecosystems, which enable domain experts to reinforce their expertise and externalize tacit knowledge through interactions with AI systems or other experts.

Required qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a PhD program in HCI, Computer Science, Information Science, Cognitive Science, Psychology, Design, or a related field
- Eligible to work in South Korea for the full internship period (no visa sponsorship)
- Strong foundation in HCI research methods and research communication
Responsibilities
- Lead targeted literature review on research topic(s) of interest: AI literacy for professionals (e.g., mental models, trust calibration, decision support), incentive design for expert contributions (e.g., sustainability, worker motivation), or interaction design for AI-assisted expert tools (e.g., interfaces, feedback channels).
- Plan and conduct human involved studies (e.g., interviews, contextual inquiry, diary studies, lab or field experiments)
- Primarily engage in one of the following, while not being limited to a single focus: (1) Design and prototype interaction concepts using functional tools depending on your strengths (e.g., Figma, native or web apps), and (2) Develop incentive workflow/data curation strategies that transform expert work into structured data suitable for modeling and evaluation
- Collaborate closely with mentors and cross-functional teammates; share progress and present findings at the end of the internship
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience studying or building tools for human–AI interaction / collaborative AI
- Ability for prototype development and statistical data analysis
- Publication record in venues such as CHI, UIST, CSCW, IMWUT or relevant Human-AI tracks elsewhere
