LG AI Research introduced EXAONE 3.0 and ChatEXAONE while interacting with AI researchers at 'ACL 2024'. At this conference, through 'LG AI Day' and the LG AI Research booth, LG AI Research showcased its latest research and technological capabilities, garnering the attention of many AI researchers. The ACL (Association for Computational Linguistics, ACL) conference, held in Bangkok, Thailand, is one of the most prestigious international conferences in the field of Natural Language Processing (NLP), it was held in Bangkok, Thailand, to share the latest research and various insights on Language Model (LM). At ACL 2024, many studies that attempted to solve various problems by utilizing the pre-trained data of large language models were introduced, and in particular, many studies on multilingual and cross-lingual language models that learned various languages were presented.

LG AI Research invited master's and doctoral-level talents participating in ACL 2024 to 'LG AI Day', providing networking opportunities with future AI leaders. In the LG AI Day keynote session, LG AI Research president Kyunghoon Bae explained the distinctive performance of the recently unveiled EXAONE 3.0 model, the reason for opening the 7.8B model, and the significance of ChatEXAONE.
EXAONE 3.0 focuses on high performance in real-world use cases to be well utilized in industrial sites, achieving top-level performance in important human preference factors such as multi-turn conversations, instruction execution, reasoning, and mathematics. It can generate more satisfactory results by combining various domain-specific documents and data held by experts and enterprises.
In addition, LG AI Research introduced 'ChatEXAONE', a generative AI service based on EXAONE 3.0, sharing key features for enhancing user productivity and components and future directions as an Enterprise AI Agent. Kyunghoon Bae emphasized that "We aimed to create a foundation model on par with global big tech companies, with the motto of developing the world's best Korean-English bilingual model. Now that we believe preparations are complete, we are releasing EXAONE 3.0."
Students participating in the event freely asked about LG AI Research's achievements and careers, EXAONE, and continued in-depth exchanges, gaining insights. Students who attended said, 'It was a great opportunity to hear a direct explanation about the models recently announced by LG and to use ChatEXAONE."

At ACL 2024, there is also a corporate exhibition booth where you can look at the latest AI technologies from big tech companies such as Meta, Apple and ByteDance. At Meta booth, the LM Transparency Tool (LM-TT), an open-source interactive toolkit for analyzing the internal workings of Transformer-based language models were presented. LG AI Research booth provided a talk session explaining EXAONE 3.0 and a demonstration of ChatEXAONE, allowing AI researchers attending ACL to directly verify LG's AI capabilities. EXAONE Lab leader Jinsik Lee explained the model training method and structure of EXAONE 3.0, introducing the characteristics of LG's large LLM (Large language model) technology. The LG AI Research booth also provided a space where visitors could use ChatEXAONE. Many visitors experienced the various functions of LG's generative AI service by inputting various prompts. Participants remarked on the innovative nature of LG's AI models at the global conference, highlighting ChatEXAONE's unique feature of offering references in addition to answers for its web-based QA.
In addition, at ACL 2024, LG AI Research presented several papers containing the results of fundamental research in the field of Language. Among them, Janghoon Han from Language Lab received attention by presenting a poster session on Cross-lingual instruction tuning and language barriers in LLMs.
