LG AI Research became the first organization in Korea to be designated as an IEEE CertifAIEd Assessment Collaborator. As a collaborator with the IEEE CertifAIEd (Certified AI Ethics) by the IEEE-SA (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Standards Association), LG AI Research plans to lead the development of international AI ethics standards alongside IEEE.
With the rapid advancement of AI technology, the need for verification, evaluation guidelines, and standardization of AI technology’s reliability and safety has increased from research and development to utilization. As Korea’s first collaborative organization with IEEE CertifAIEd, LG AI Research will lead the expansion of a development ecosystem for trustworthy AI together with IEEE-SA.
Global Standards for AI Ethics : ‘IEEE CertifAIEd’ Certification Program
The IEEE Standards Association(IEEE-SA) is a globally recognized standards development and certification body in the fields of electrical and electronics engineering. With over 34,000 experts from 175 countries, IEEE-SA is currently managing more than 2,100 international standards projects. As the influence of AI technology expands, IEEE-SA is focusing on establishing standards to ensure the reliability and safety of AI technologies.
Through the ‘IEEE CertifAIEd’ certification program, LG AI Research will support companies in developing trustworthy AI technologies that meet international standards in areas such as ▲Ethical Transparency, ▲Algorithmic Bias, ▲Privacy, and ▲Accountability.
In particular, LG AI Research plans to prioritize the IEEE CertifAIEd certification program for AI products and services of LG affiliates and global partners to secure the reliability of domestic and international customers. LG AI Research will also operate AI ethics education programs to raise awareness among AI developers and users about the importance of ethical AI technologies.

LG AI Research: Leading the Way in Global AI Ethics
LG AI Research has been actively engaging in global initiatives to strengthen AI ethics. Following the partnership with UNESCO to foster knowledge and awareness of the Ethics of AI in November last year, LG AI Research has joined the UNESCO Business Council, a private-sector international AI ethics organization. Additionally, LG AI Research is the only Korean company to join the “AI Election Compact,” a joint declaration by big tech companies aimed at preventing deepfakes. These achievements solidify the company’s position as a global leader in AI ethics.
Meanwhile, LG AI Research is the only Korean company to participate in the “AI Safety” session hosted by the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) in New York, where the UN General Assembly will be held at the end of September. In this session, Yoochul Kim, head of the Strategy Division, will present cases on the establishment of a risk management system for each life cycle of AI systems, from research and development to utilization and disposal.
