The 6th LG Aimers hackathon, a youth AI expert training program run by LG AI Research, focused on developing an AI model to predict pregnancy success rates for infertility patients. Participating students developed AI models based on actual infertility treatment data, providing a meaningful opportunity to explore solutions to socially important problems at this moment.

During the hackathon, the 6th LG Aimers students received AI lectures at the AI graduate school level, including ML theory, supervised learning, and deep learning, as well as specialized domain knowledge lectures on infertility and fertility preservation from experts at related hospitals. They also developed practical skills through AI model build using actual LG Chem data. Through LG Aimers' systematic and in-depth training courses, they understood the causes of infertility and the importance of fertility preservation from a scientific, social, and objective perspective, and learned about the potential of AI technology applicable to social problems.

LG Chem's Life Sciences Division, which presented the 6th hackathon problem, is actively developing solutions for infertility patients. Medical institutions providing infertility treatment aim to increase pregnancy success rates with minimal procedures, and patients experience high physical and mental stress during their long treatment journey. To address both the challenges faced by medical institutions and the inconveniences of patients, LG Chem is researching technologies that can increase pregnancy success rates with minimal procedures by analyzing vast amounts of data using AI technology and identifying key factors affecting pregnancy. It is expected that this will positively impact infertility treatment by predicting pregnancy success in advance, reducing patient suffering, and enabling optimized treatment plans.

The offline hackathon, the final stage of Aimers 6, was held at LG Inhwaone in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province, for two days and one night from the 5th. Out of over 2,000 participants, 98 participants from 27 teams who passed the preliminaries advanced to the final offline hackathon. On the 2nd day of the hackathon, LG hosted a job fair with the participation of 7 affiliates, including LG AI Research, LG Electronics, LG Innotek, LG Chem, LG Energy Solution, LG Uplus, and LG CNS. Human resources representatives from each company provided recruitment information and offered career counseling to the participants.

"At the LG Aimers 6th hackathon, the final rankings were as follows: 3rd place went to the 'Mom's Hand is AI Hand' team, 2nd place to the 'Leftover' team, and the prestigious 1st place was awarded to the 'Latent Graph' team. The 3rd place 'Mom's Hand is AI Hand' team increased prediction generalization and stability by combining the strengths of two models, CatBoost and LGBM. The 2nd place 'Leftover' team showcased outstanding feature engineering techniques by analyzing the relationship between pregnancy success and various derived variables. Finally, the 1st place 'Latent Graph' team achieved high performance by focusing on data cleaning and using deep learning models, and received high scores for its high potential for future applications.

Participants in the 6th hackathon expressed their impressions, stating, "Through the Aimers program, we were able to gain practical experience analyzing and working with real-world industry data, and the hackathon participants greatly benefited from the help of the group guardians.'"
