LG AI Research at the Forefront of Global AI Governance Discussions

LG AI Research is cementing Korea's position as a key player in global AI governance discussions. From June 24th, LG AI Research was the only Korean company to participate in the four-day "UNESCO Global Forum on the Ethics of AI 2025" in Bangkok, Thailand, actively contributing to dialogues on global AI ethics and responsible development.

This forum, now in its third year, brought together over 1,000 key figures from 194 UNESCO member states and 12 international organizations for in-depth discussions on the evolving landscape of global AI ethics governance.

Emphasizing the Role of Corporations and Global Collaboration in the AI Era

During the "Rethinking Corporate Responsibility in the Age of AI" session, Myoungshin Kim, the AI Principal Policy Officer at LG AI Research, discussed private sector cooperation for global AI governance with representatives from leading global companies, including Thomson Reuters Foundation, Microsoft, SAP, and Infosys. LG AI Research won't stop there; we’re set to continue discussions on global AI governance at the AI Safety Workshop in Japan on July 5th.

Partnering with UNESCO to Open New Horizons in AI Ethics Education

At the forum, LG AI Research shared updates on its collaborative global project with UNESCO: AI Ethics MOOC (Massive Open Online Course). This MOOC project aims to strengthen AI ethics capabilities in both public and private sectors by identifying best practices for responsible AI technology use and developing educational programs for AI experts, researchers, and policymakers worldwide.

Through its 'AI Ethics MOOC' program, LG AI Research is broadening its global AI governance partnerships. They are collaborating with world-renowned AI research organizations such as Harvard University, New York University, the University of Notre Dame, UN University, the Mozilla Foundation, and the World Commission on the Ethics of Scientific Knowledge and Technology (COMEST).

Elevating Korea's Stature and Practicing AI Ethics

Beyond the UNESCO Global Forum on the Ethics of AI, LG AI Research consistently participates in key global AI governance discussions, including the AI Seoul Summit, the UN Forum on Business and Human Rights, and the Paris AI Action Summit. Its active involvement helps showcase the role and efforts of corporations in sustainable AI development, significantly raising Korea's profile on the global AI stage.

Myoungshin Kim, the AI Principal Policy Officer at LG AI Research, stated, "Built on the fundamental belief that AI is ultimately created by people, LG AI Research is committed to acting responsibly in AI development. Additionally, in May, Vilas Dhar, President of t The Patrick J. McGovern Foundation, who also serves as a UN AI Advisory Body member and co-chair of the World Economic Forum's AI Action Alliance, visited LG AI Research to discuss global AI governance.
