LG Graduate School of AI, a hub for nurturing top-tier talent to drive LG Group’s AI Transformation (AX) strategy, successfully concluded its 2025 Doctoral Program. On February 3rd, LG AI Research held a graduation ceremony at the LG AI Academy in Magok K-Square, presenting doctoral degrees to graduates and celebrating their remarkable achievements.

Launched in March 2022, the LG Graduate School of AI’s PhD program aims to cultivate "Research Leaders" capable of redefining complex industrial challenges and developing original methodologies to solve them. To ensure world-class expertise recognized by both industry and academia, the program mandates publishing in SCI(E) journals or presenting at top-tier global AI conferences as a graduation requirement. From selecting research topics to the final dissertation defense, the graduates proved their capabilities through rigorous training and evaluation equivalent to prestigious academic organization.
The ceremony was attended by faculty members and mentors who guided the students' research journeys. In his congratulatory speech, Woohyung Lim, Head of LG AI Research, encouraged the graduates, saying, “Congratulations to the graduates of the LG Graduate School of AI for successfully balancing your professional duties with intensive AI research; we look forward to seeing you lead LG’s future, bridging field experience with cutting-edge technology to drive real change.”
The spotlight fell on the two degree recipients, Yunho Shin from LG Uplus and Youngtak Na from LG Electronics:

In his closing remarks, Yunho Shin expressed his gratitude: “I want to thank my professors, colleagues, and the LG Uplus AI R&D Center for their unwavering support despite many changes in the environment. I will continue my journey as an AI engineer fit for the era of Physical AI.”
Youngtak Na added, “The insights from my professors and the Academy team helped me persevere through countless experimental failures. LG Graduate School of AIis truly the optimal environment for AI research, and it will continue to be the foundation for the LG Group’s AX innovation.”

Soonyoung Lee, Head of the Data Intelligence Lab at LG AI Research, praised the graduates: “I am deeply impressed by the tenacity and responsibility of two graduates, who balanced their busy work schedules to complete international-level research without losing direction.” He extended his heartfelt support to the graduates, acknowledging them as fellow "AI researchers" and "colleagues."

Recently, LG Graduate School of AI became the first institution in South Korea to receive official accreditation from the Ministry of Education for its doctoral program, following its master's program. This marks a significant milestone as a premier starting point for cultivating research leaders who will carry the future of Korea’s AI industry. Moving forward, LG Graduate School of AI will continue to bridge the gap between industry and academia, striving to nurture core talents who lead practical technological innovation.
