Advancing a Trusted Global AI Ecosystem
From February 16 to 20 (local time), the India AI Summit convened at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. Representing Korea’s AI leadership, LG AI Research participated to share its ongoing efforts, global collaborations, and tangible outcomes in advancing trustworthy AI.
Beyond showcasing foundation model capabilities and AI-driven solutions, LG AI Research highlighted its broader commitment: contributing to humanity through responsible innovation and helping build a sustainable, accountable AI ecosystem.
Elevating Safety and Trust at the Center of Global AI Governance
Hosted by the Government of India, the Summit brought heads of state and industry leaders from over 80 countries, including the United States, China, and the European Union alongside major industry players such as Google and Microsoft.
LG AI Research participated as a panelist in a session co-hosted by UNESCO and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), contributing to critical discussions on global AI governance.
A central theme of the Summit was clear: the advancement of safe and trustworthy AI is a prerequisite for maximizing social and economic benefit. Recognizing the advent of "Agentic AI" as a major milestone that calls for swift regulatory frameworks, LG AI Research offered insights during a dedicated session on how to broaden the positive impact of AI for the betterment of humanity. As a panel contributor, LG AI Research offered key recommendations on actionable pathways to ensure that AI’s benefits are equitably shared across humanity.

Introducing K-AUT: A Korean Benchmark for AI Trustworthiness
Following invitations to global AI forums in Seoul and Paris, LG AI Research was invited for the third consecutive time to contribute to high-level discussions this time in India on embedding responsible AI practices within corporate governance frameworks.
At the Summit, the institute unveiled its independently developed universal AI risk classification framework tailored for the Korean context, K-AUT (Korea-Augmented Universal Taxonomy).
K-AUT systematically categorizes potential risks across four core domains:
- Universal human values
- Social safety
- Korean contextual specificity
- Emerging and future risks
Comprising 226 detailed risk categories, K-AUT applies five rigorous evaluation criteria to each item. Even a single violation triggers classification as an inappropriate response—reflecting the framework’s uncompromising standards.
Notably, the “Korean contextual specificity” domain is designed for adaptability, enabling customization to reflect the unique sociocultural and regulatory characteristics of individual countries. This structural flexibility positions K-AUT for global scalability while preserving local relevance.
Bridging the Knowledge Gap: A Joint MOOC Initiative with UNESCO
Beyond technological transparency, LG AI Research is committed to expanding responsible AI awareness through education.
Yucheol Kim, Head of Strategy, introduced an AI Ethics MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) scheduled for global launch in May. Jointly developed with UNESCO, the program aims to equip AI experts, researchers, and policymakers worldwide with best practices for ethical AI development and deployment.
The course will present real-world best practices, drawing from LG AI Research’s internal ethical impact assessment processes and its AI agent–based data compliance systems. By transpartently sharing operational know-how, the institute seeks to empower practitioners to integrate AI ethics into their day-to-day work.
